Facilitated diffusion describes the movement of molecules through transporters. We can see from the equation above which is used to describe transport of glucose through the hexose transporter that the rate of movement is determined by the maximum capacity of the transporter (V) and the concentrations of glucose on both sides of the transporter.
The term Ki is used to describe the mobility of the carrier.
